Hello.

The last SøNws of the year.
And boy oh boy, what a year it’s been.

For most it’s been tough. For many, it’s been brutal.

But don’t worry, it’s not all doom and gloom.
2024 is around the corner and it promises riches beyond your wildest dreams*.

What do you call Santa living at the South Pole?
A lost clause!

So, 2023…

• The global economy took a beating
• You’ve got the wars in Ukraine and Israel/Palestine. Neither with a clear end in sight
• And, closer to home, there’s been less capital deployed, suppressed valuations and cash runways have dried up for all too many. Ouch

Just. Too. Much.

The wars, they cut me up.
The startup market reset…I’m actually 100% okay with.

A quote I come back to time and time again:

It’s the most wine-derful time of the year

Now, before I pick up a wine glass (and refuse to put it down for 2 weeks), a few Sønr reflections on 2023.

I mean, who doesn’t love a good look back on a tough year?

• We hired new folk; we travelled the world
• We listened to clients and evolved the Sønr platform to help track startup meetings, investments and PoCs
• We built SønrGPT (oh yeah) to deepen the insights on future trends and competitor playbooks, provide translations and improve CX
• We published the InsureTech Connect Forward50 Series – a one-of-a-kind global study of emerging innovators
• We won a bunch of new clients

And we finish the year with revenues up 70% 🤯 🚀

All this, I’m super proud of. But it didn’t come easy. At the end of the day, it’s thanks the people around me. We have built an incredible team and a beautiful culture. Together, we’ve created something quite exceptional.

The best bit – 2024 promises to be bigger, better and include even more skiing 🤷.

I really can’t stop with the quotes today.

To be honest I think it’s more the fact I’m doing my best to avoid getting into the usual innovation roundup. Forgive me this one time.

The dog needs a walk.
My boy wants a swim.
And I quite fancy a mince pie.
