Beyond Boundaries: What We Built, and What Comes Next

Blog, Whitepaper : 5 minutes

When we launched Beyond Boundaries in 2025, the ambition was clear: capture the real state of insurance innovation, not through data alone, but through the voices of the leaders living it.

It soon became something bigger than that.

Over the course of the year, the Sønr team spoke with dozens of senior executives across insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and the wider ecosystem. We synthesised those conversations with our own intelligence – the most comprehensive data on tech and innovation players in the insurance ecosystem anywhere in the world – and published a report that mapped how innovation is actually playing out across every major region and line of business.

We celebrated 100 companies reshaping the industry through the Signal50 and Scale50. And we launched it at ITC Vegas, one of the most important gatherings in global insurance.

It was downloaded tens of thousands of times across the industry.

People didn’t just read it. They shared it, discussed it, referenced it in boardrooms and at conferences around the world.

We were invited to present the findings to leadership teams and at events across multiple geographies.

The conversations it sparked were, in many ways, more valuable than the report itself.

That’s what’s driving what comes next.

From Report to Movement

For 2026, we’re evolving Beyond Boundaries from a flagship annual publication into something more dynamic: a year-round interview series and live experience that travels with the insurance industry.

The format flips the traditional model.

Rather than gathering insights and publishing them once a year, we’re taking those conversations on the road – bringing the findings directly to the rooms where insurance leaders gather, and creating space for them to go deeper together.

At events around the world, we’ll be hosting curated sessions that blend presentation with genuine dialogue.

Senior leaders – some who contributed to the research, some who haven’t – brought together to explore the themes that matter most right now. Rooms designed for the kind of honest, high-quality conversation that actually moves thinking forward.

Depending on the event, that might mean a focused mini-report tailored to a specific geography, line of business, or technology trend. It might mean getting up on stage to put Sønr’s findings front and centre. Or it might simply mean the right people in the right room, with the right questions on the table.

Why This, Why Now

The insurance industry is at a genuine inflection point.

After years of incremental change, the forces shaping the market – AI, embedded distribution, climate risk, operational transformation – are converging fast.

Leaders need intelligence they can act on, continuously. They need to know what’s working in markets beyond their own. And increasingly, they want to be part of the conversation, not just recipients of it.

Beyond Boundaries in 2026 is built around that reality.

The interview series keeps the intelligence flowing throughout the year. The live experiences make it tangible and actionable. And the community that forms around it – leaders willing to think openly about where the industry is heading – becomes the most valuable output of all.

The Signal50 and Scale50 return in 2026 – our definitive rankings of the emerging and established innovators reshaping insurance, powered by the same rigorous methodology and global judging panel as last year.

More on timing shortly.
