Voyage overview

Voyage is an autonomous vehicle startup, spun out of Udacity.

Voyage's first product is an autonomous ride-hailing service located within retirement communities. It is currently being used in several retirement communities in California and Florida. The cars travel at speeds of up to 25mph, are equipped with a 360 degree camera, and utilise a prediction engine that uses a combination of advanced probability models, high-definition maps, and time-based behaviour models to predict exactly what’s going to happen around its vehicles.

In July 2018, Voyage revealed plans to share its driving data with its newest partner and investor, Canadian insurer Intact, to help them achieve more competitive premiums.

In September 2019 Voyage raised $31m from Franklin Templeton (lead), Khosla Ventures, InMotion Ventures and Chevron Technology Ventures. The new funding is being used to hire and expand its fleet of autonomous Chrysler Pacifica minivans. The vans always come with a human 'safety driver'.

Voyage revealed in 2019 it has deals with rental car company Enterprise and Intact insurance to help it scale. Across 2019 and 2020 the company is tripling its workforce from ~50 to 150.
