SWORD Health

SWORD Health is a digital musculoskeletal (MSK) therapy provider. It pairs licensed physical therapists with innovative technology to help people overcome their chronic and post-surgical pain faster and more cost-effectively. The company has stated its mission is to 'free two billion people from pain by making it simple for people to recover at home, without resorting to imaging, surgeries or opioids'.

SWORD has developed a smart wearable device that can track movement. The data it captured is shared with the user's digital therapist in real-time, which they in turn can use in therapy sessions to get instant feedback. Since launching in 2015, SWORD Health has worked with insurers, health systems and employers in Europe, Australia and the U.S. to give people access to preventative, chronic and post-surgical remote MSK care.

SWORD Health raised €8.1m in its Series A+ funding round, which was led by Khosla Ventures. The additional funds came around a year after its initial Series A funding. The company said it would use the new funds on distribution, partnerships, sales and marketing.

In February 2021 SWORD Health announced a $25m Series B. This was followed by an $85m Series C in June.

In November 2021 SWORD Health has raised a €145m Series D, bringing total funding to $320m and giving a valuation of $1.78bn.
