Find out moreOtonomo is a cloud-based SaaS solution which sits between the Auto OEM and service providers and organises, limits, protects and makes sense of the data.
Otonomo manages raw data to allow car manufacturers to offer their customers a wealth of data-enhanced services. According to the company, it is capable of tracking as many as 500 data points from vehicles. By enabling OEMs to maintain ownership of their data, Otonomo provides an alternative to handing data over to tech giants like Apple and Google, who are keen to monopolise the market and gain free access to data through their in-car operating systems. The software provides the capacity to limit data exposure to selected service providers via an intuitive dashboard, which can be further restricted by the end user.
Its neutral platform ingests more than 4 billion data points per day from over 40 million global connected vehicles.
In 2019, Otonomo revealed their collaboration with Daimler on the Neutral Server initiative, which will see them provide Mercedes-Benz' connected car customers with value-added services including usage-based insurance, on-demand fuelling and smart electric vehicle charging, among others.
Also in 2019, Otonomo partnered with Microsoft to expand the services available to automotive OEMs and accelerate the use of these services and other solutions based on automotive data.
The company partnered with Misubishi Motors in January 2020 to deliver connected car applications and services in Europe and North America. Mitsubishi will integrate with Otonomo's platform so that its vehicles can seamlessly share data with third party services and application providers - such as smart electric vehicle charging, parking, safety, concierge services, preventative maintenance and mapping.
In April 2020 Otonomo raised a $46m Series C round, with investors including SK Holdings, Avis Budget Group, Alliance Venture and more. At the time of the raise, the company reported it was partnering with more than 25 OEM fleets, and farm and construction equipment OEMs., and its ecosystem contained offerings from more than 100 partners.
In June 2020, Otonomo partnered with AI insurtech Greater Than, providing them with a near real-time, connected car data from cars in Germany and the United States. Greater Than stated it would use the data to expand direct sales of risk insights.
During December 2022 the company announced a multi-year partnership with Renault Group that will provide the group's fleet customers with vehicle data insights from multiple vehicle brands. The deal strengthens Otonomo’s fleet offering by enriching its Smart Mobility Data Program, which helps customers to create added value.
Otonomo went public via SPAC in August 2021.
