InsurTech Gateway overview

InsurTech Gateway is an insurance tech incubator and fund backed by Hambro Perks. The one-stop-shop enables founders to get underwriting paper, investment capital (Pre-Seed to Series B+) and guidance on how to design and build their startup. The incubator, licensed by the FCA, enables its startups to start testing their products within weeks as Appointed Representatives of the Gateway.

In 2019, it revealed it would be targeting up to £30 million of investment for a new fund launched to support technology start-ups in the re/insurance space. The Gateway Fund kicked off by investing £2.25 million in four portfolio companies - By Miles, FloodFlash, Guardhog, and Insurdata - as well as leading the seed round of Humn. The new fund aims to open up opportunities for corporate investors to gain access to investment and underwriting deal-flow from the Gateway Incubator.

In July 2019, InsurTech Gateway announced that they would be launching in Australia, led by Simon O'Dell - former CEO at InsurTech Australia. Working with early stage startups, the Insurtech Gateway Australia incubator will offer fast-track access to local and international markets through a high-touch 12-week program and ongoing support.

In November 2019 InsurTech Gateway raised £2.5m in funding, led by Moxley Holdings. The funding will enable the incubator to continue in its operations for the next 3 years, and grow its portfolio from 10 to 30 companies.

In July 2022 Insurtech Gateway successfully closed its Seed Fund II. The company says that the new investment will help support 20 teams from pre-Seed to Series A in the next four years.
