Instanda overview

Instanda is a cloud-based digital insurance platform that enables users to create, manage and distribute insurance products. Its no-code product design platform is built on a set of insurance specific calculations, processing and workflow capabilities, as a result, documents, customer journeys, questions and more can be amended in minutes, and new products can be launched in days or weeks.

Instanda works with carriers, MGA's and brokers around the world. Instanda has helped over 60 clients create around 3,500 insurance products across 16 countries.

Instanda was part of Microsoft Accelerators 5th London cohort, and took part in Plug and Play's InsurTech programme in early 2017.

In 2018 the company announced it was partnering with Hiscox; the collaboration was then extended in November 2019. The strategic partnership, which builds critical distribution through the deployment of the Instanda platform, was extended to manage both direct-to-consumer and broker products in four countries. The move will see products such as Professional Indemnity, General Liability, Property and more launched.

In 2019, the firm revealed an MGA start-up facility, IMGA, complete with a platform enabling a startup to go from initial contact to commencing underwriting in around 10 weeks. Its offering should enable and manage a variety of services, including product distribution, submission and policy management, renewals and FNOL processing.

Instanda announced it had raised $19.5m in Series A funding, in a round led by Assembly Capital Partners in March 2020. The company revealed it was operating in 12 countries and working with 50 clients at the time.

The following month the company became part of Microsoft's Azure platform.

In July 2020 Instanda announced a partnership with Europe-based technology and consulting company Softelligence.

Instanda partnered with Capco in August 2020 to provide the latter with its proprietary insurance software to help meet needs following the impact of Covid-19.

In Otober Instanda launched its first African insurance market product - a commercial cyber insurance offering - on its platform with new client Standard Bank South Africa.

In November 2020 Instanda launched a new integration marketplace, enabling insurers to access multiple platforms in one place. Clients will be able to easily integrate with over 200 other platforms, such as Salesforce, Hyperscience and Docusign.

In January 2021 Instanda revealed a partnership with Adrosonic, a digital consulting firm, to help insurers to better price risk.

At the end of March 2021 Instanda announced London Underwriters had implemented its technology to launch their new insurtech program, Bunch Insurance.

Instanda entered the Middle Eastern marketplace in September 2021 through its new client and partner, UAE-based broker NewTechMe. Instanda has enabled the broker to create their own digital insurance products for direct or affinity distribution.

In October 2021 Instanda and AI-focused insurtech omni:us partnered to automate claim handling and further enhance underwriting processes. The partnership with enabled Instanda's users to ingest higher volumes of documents.

That same month Instanda and Incandesco announced they would partner to streamline quoting and underwriting processes. Incandesco's FireSwipe, which enables insurers to identify more targeted and relevant risk, will be integrated into Instanda's platform.

Also in October, Instanda announced it had joined GRiD, the industry body for group risk.

In June 2022 Instanda secured $45M in a Series B for expansion in Europe, US & Asia and to add new capabilities to its platform. The company's software is now used by more than 70 businesses.

In September 2024 Instanda integrated its Life insurance platform with Swiss Re's automated underwriting platform, Magnum. This collaboration creates an all-in-one ecosystem for seamless customer journeys, allowing faster application processing. Swiss Re and INSTANDA worked with delivery partner, Yovant for smooth integration. 

The company is headquartered in the UK, with offices across North America, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.
