Brightmile overview

Brightmile has developed a fleet risk management solution, building an app that engages company drivers to drive safely and take better care of their vehicles, and a web portal giving managers actionable insight on how to reduce collisions and manage their duty of care to drivers.

Brightmile's app and corresponding web portal deliver real-time, contextual risk prevention, smartphone distraction prevention, and actively engages with drivers to improve their behaviour. It concentrates on key aspects of safe driving: risk, speeding, smartphone distraction, fatigue, and economy.

Drivers who exhibit safe driving behaviour are rewarded with points that can be exchanged for rewards (such as Amazon vouchers) or donated to road safety charity Brake. Employers and insurers can access actionable insights on fleet risk trends and targeted interventions, identifying the riskier fleet drivers and highlighting areas for improvement. Brightmile operates solely through a smartphone app and has no hardware requirements, with a simple onboarding process and no upfront costs.

Brightmile claims to reduce collision risk by up to 25% and reduce operating costs, with an average 10x return on investment in Brightmile. Its clients include Shell, DHL and Aecom.

Brightmile is backed by AXA's insurtech incubator, Kamet Ventures. The corporate insurer partnered with Brightmile in April 2020 to develop a smartphone telematics solution for fleets during Covid-19, with services such as food deliveries, charities, and gas and electricity technicians receiving three months of free access to the Brightmile app.
