Find out moreAutoX was founded in 2016 by Jianxiong Xiao, a former Princeton Professor. AutoX's camera-first multi-sensor fusion system enables self-driving in urban scenarios.
Initially launching as a grocery delivery autonomous vehicle venture, the company is now expanding into an AV supplier and robo-taxi company. The company does not produce its own vehicles, rather just the self-driving technology, which can be applied to different partner car types.
In June 2018 AutoX became the second company allowed to transport passengers in robo-taxis - called xTaxi - in California. It's first pilot was in an area of about five square miles, however it is set to launch another pilot before the end of 2019. The company also has been given permission to run a robo-taxi operation in Shenzhen, China.
AutoX partnered with Sweden-based NEVS with the aim of launching a robo-taxi pilot in Europe by the end of 2020. Tests of the vehicles will begin in Q3 2019.
In September 2019 AutoX announced it had raised a $100m Series A round, led by Dongfeng Motor corporation, with participation from Alibaba and Plug and Play China.
In February 2020 US auto giant Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) partnered with AutoX. As part of Chrysler's collaborative strategy to maintain market position while Autonomous Vehicle technology embeds, the partnership will soon see Chrysler mini-vans start to pilot themselves around Chinese cities including Shanghai & Shenzhen.
AutoX is based in Hong Kong and San Jose, California. It has a team of around 150 people.
