Figo Pet Insurance

Figo offers cloud-based technology products and insurance services for the pet industry. Figo provide simple pet health plans with customisable deductible and reimbursement-rates. The venture also uses cloud technology to aid owners with the management of their pet; their Pet Cloud platform enables users to upload claims and instantly share vital records, certificates, and photos via their mobile device. Additionally, the Pet Cloud offers extra tools, such as access to pet-friendly services like parks, restaurants and veterinarians, as well as a chatbot to assist with claims, Evie.

Figo’s free Pet Tag provides each pet with their own unique ID tag, which gives access to a number of online features, including a group alert system should a pet go missing (which can be sent out to friends and family), and online pet profiles that can be accessed through the pet tag should a person find the missing pet. The venture has also formed a cloud partnership with Gibi Technologies, which enables pet owners to locate their missing pets through real-time tag tracking, thanks to GPS technology. Owners can also create a safe zone on a map on Figo’s Pet Cloud, and receive real-time alerts when their pets cross the boundaries.

Figo is a graduate of the Chicago-based 1871 technology incubator.

In 2019, the pet insurance provider filed its Form D with the SEC in connection to an equity/debt round totalling $1.5m.

In January 2020 the company announced it was the largest independent US pet insurance provider after being valued at $125m. It had recently received a $5m investment for a 4% equity stake from Independence American Insurance Company (IAIC).
