Tomorrow overview

Tomorrow is a mobile app which helps users plan for the future, by combining and simplifying a number of important functions.

Tomorrow has developed a legal and financial app aimed at busy millennials and modern families. The app can assist with estate planning and will creation, provide free legal documents, as well as choosing individuals for important jobs such as executors, guardians or trustees. If required the app can also help users find and administer their life insurance policy.

Users input their basic family data, belongings, assets, and designate executors of the will. The app then generates a PDF that can be signed and downloaded, along with instructions on how to make it legally binding. Tomorrow also allows users to buy affordable life insurance policies that start at $13/month with payouts of $250,000. The app is licensed to sell policies in all 50 states.

The company makes money as a licensed broker of financial services products such as term life insurance. The app has more than 250,000 users.

In 2018 the company raised $4.2 million in funding to help grow its technology. Sinai Ventures led the round; Aflac Corporate Ventures, Allianz Ventures and Plug and Play, amongst others, also participated. The following year the company raised a $9m venture round.

In January 2022 life insurtech Ethos acquired wills and trusts specialist Tomorrow. The acquired company has seen high growth, with over 600,000 users creating legal wills. Ethos will begin offering policies through the Tomorrow app by mid-2022.

The company was founded by veteran entrepreneur Dave Hanley in 2016. Hanley previously sold social media consultancy Banyan Branch to Deloitte Digital in 2013. His previous startup, Shelfari, was acquired by Amazon in 2009.
