Find out moreFirstVet is a digital veterinary clinic offering video meetings with veterinarians, directly through smartphones, tablets or computers. The vets can provide advice, what care owners can provide, and whether further help or care should be sought. They provide consultation, medicinal prescriptions, and related services through both mobile applications and their website.
In 2018 the startup reported over 60k registered users in Sweden, stating it answers around 4,500 calls a month. In June of that year, the company raised €5.1m in Series A funding, led by Creandum.
In August 2019 Firstvet partnered with insurtech Bought By Many to offer vet consultation services to its pet insurance consumers.
FirstVet raised €18.5m in November 2019 in a Series B round led by OMERS Ventures. The startup said it will use the money to expand globally, beginning with the US, Germany and France. FirstVet also confirmed it would introduce new automation tools and other new features.
Just a year later, FirstVet raised €30m to help expand in the US. The company stated that in the previous 12-months they had seen their active users double from 200k to 400k
Founded in 2016, the company is headquartered in Stockholm, Stockholms Lan, Sweden.
In January 2023 FirstVet pentered into a partnership with Fletch to embed a pet insurance marketplace for its US users. US users will now be able to access several pet insurance options within FirstVet’s televet platform, allowing them to decide which provider works best for them and their pet’s unique needs.
The company operates in seven countries including the UK, US, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.
