FWD Singapore overview

FWD started operations in Singapore in April 2016, providing employee benefits insurance to corporate customers. In September, FWD launched its direct-to-consumer business and currently offers a suite of life and general insurance products including direct-term life, car, travel, personal accident and maid insurance.

In 2018, the company announced the launch of its mobile travel insurance services app, FWD Flyer. Available on both iOS and Android, the app allows FWD's customers to find nearby doctors, receive cashless medical treatments, purchase insurance, manage their claims and much more. The following year, they unveiled Faith, an AI chatbot powered by Active.Ai to assist travel insurance customers on how to submit a claim, as well as support general FAQs across all lines.

In June 2019, FWD Management Holdings Limited (The Hong Kong registered business of FWD Group) announced an agreement to acquire MetLife Limited and Metropolitan Life Insurance Company of Hong Kong (MetLife Hong Kong) from MetLife Inc. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In April 2023 FWD Singapore announced the expansion of its home insurance coverage by protecting homeowners from cyber fraud through its complimentary FWD Cyber insurance. WD Cyber insurance provides coverage for some of the most common scams; up to S$5,000 in coverage for financial loss arising directly from an online marketplace fraud and for financial loss to customers’ bank accounts or digital wallets arising directly from a cyber event.
