CompariSure

CompariSure is an independent life insurance comparison platform. Founded in 2017, CompariSure provides users with multiple life quotes from South Africa’s life insurers.

The company distributes products via its own chatbot technology across Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. It also licenses its chatbot technology to other insurers looking to digitise.

According to founder Jonathan Elcock, more than 250k South Africans have used its chatbot, and over 70% of CompariSure's sales have been conducted with no human engagement.

Comparisure's partners include Momentum Metropolitan, Old Mutual and Sanlam.

CompariSure raised an undisclosed amount of venture capital funding in May 2020 from SA Umkhathi Wethu Ventures, in partnership with Allan Gray. The startup stated this money would be used to scale and enter into new geographical markets. Prior to this, CompariSure had received undisclosed investment from 4Di Capital.
