Zurich North America is an international commercial property-casualty insurance provider. Zurich North America provides commercial property and casualty insurance in North America. The company is based in Schaumburg, Illinois. Zurich North America operates as a subsidiary of Zurich Insurance Group AG.

The company sells a variety of insurance products which include: casualty, accident and health, captives, environmental, life and absence management solutions, international, management liability, political risk, private equity, professional liability, programs, property, cyber security, strategic risk solutions, surety, trade credit, umbrella, wholesale and surplus, and workers compensation insurance.

In 2019, Zurich North America announced they had chosen Chisel and zesty.ai to represent the nation at the Zurich Innovation World Championship. The two startups will be competing against each other as well as two InsurTechs each from Latin America, Asia Pacific, and Europe, the Middle East & Africa.

In its inaugural year, the Championships attracted over 450 startups from 49 countries, which was narrowed down to just 16 startups, who were then invited to showcase their innovative technology at the North America regional round.

Additionally in 2019 Zurich North America acquired 100% ownership of Sea Pine Technologies, a company specialising in digital applications for the marketing of vehicle protection products. In 2018, Zurich began its relationship with Sea Pine on a pilot programme with auto dealers testing Sea Pine’s digital application. That pilot saw a significant increase in F&I product sales through additional channels.

In January 2021 Zurich NA launched a parametric insurance product for construction projects in response to the rise in severe weather events. Project owners and contractors can purchase the insurance and receive instant payment based on pre-determined weather events in their location (e.g. extreme wind or temperature), even if there is no physical loss.
