Alodokter overview

Alodokter is a healthcare app that provides an end-to-end digital solution to patients, including telemedicine, medical appointment bookings, medical content and health insurance services.

Alodokter has a network of around 20,000 doctors and 1,000 hospitals and clinics.

In 2018 Alodokter launched a health insurance service called Alodokter Protection, which enables users to subscriber, pay and claim directly in the Alodokter app. Through the service, users can also access a suite of services, such as unlimited online consultations and premium access to hospitals.

In October 2019 Alodokter raised a $33m Series C round led by Sequis Life. Other investors including Softbank Ventures Asia, Golden Gate Ventures and Philips. The company states it will use the funds to expand its hospital network integration and to further develop its health insurance service.

In early March 2020 Alodokter reported it had surpassed 2m visits to its Covid-19 information and advice page after the outbreak of the Corona virus caused a sharp increase in users visiting the site and downloading their solution. The company stated it had created a large number of guides and produced advice specifically around Covid-19 to help inform people and alleviate their fears. Later that month the company launched a free chatbot that can help users self-test whether they are likely to have contracted the virus by asking a series of questions on symptoms. Alodokter stated that it had been accessed by more than 900,000 Indonesians within a week of activation.

In July 2023 Alodokter acquired the pregnancy app Diary Bunda from Japanese conglomerate Marubeni Corp. for an undisclosed sum. Diary Bunda provides personalised medical information and content on childbirth and maternal care, seeking to address the growing societal issue of child underdevelopment in Indonesia. The pregnancy app, has an active monthly user base of 100k Indonesian mothers. Alodokter has been pursuing expansion plans and platform enhancements over the past years. It recently received an undisclosed investment from Telkom Group's MDI Ventures and Samsung Ventures.
