Trōv overview

Trōv specialises in embedded insurance, offering services in insurance distribution and emerging mobility. Its insurtech platform empowers financial institutions and insurance incumbents to easily embed insurance products within other digital experiences to increase recurring revenue. Trōv provides everything required to enable seamless distribution of digital insurance products, including carrier partnerships, end-to-end technology, and supporting professional services.

Trōv initially began a mobile app which automatically organised information about household items and gadgets (including receipts and market values), stored it securely in the cloud, and provides on-demand insurance for however long it’s needed, whenever it’s needed. In August 2019 Trōv launched a suite of end-to-end products. The new solution consists of four modules in policy sales, claims, client relationship management and business intelligence. They can be customised and rapidly deployed, serving as building blocks for the white-label insurance product line.

Trōv's customers include Waymo, Groupe PSA, Lloyds Banking Group, and Suncorp, amongst others.

Trōv has served over 1 million customers since launching in Australia and the UK. In 2018, the platform officially marked its foray into the US market by making their on-demand insurance available in Arizona, with Munich Re serving as their underwriting partner. As of 2019, their offering is available to customers in 15 US states and Australia.

In June 2019 Trōv announced it would be ending its on-demand insurance consumer offering in the UK at the end of September 2019.

In August 2019, Trōv revealed it had partnered with Lloyd's Banking Group to release new insurance products for US consumers.

In October 2019 Trōv announced a new personal auto insurance product, which would be launched by partner Suncorp in Australia. Internally codenamed Pilgrim, the new application is designed for vehicle owners who have multiple choices of how to travel.

In December 2019 Trov launched a renters insurance programme with Halifax Home Insurance, which is part of Lloyds Banking Group. The new product includes blanket coverage for contents, on-demand item insurance for specific items taken out of the home, and liability and emergency accommodation cover.

In May 2020, Trov announced it had partnered with LATAM P&C insurer Sura to launch on-demand insurance in Brazil.

In August 2020 Suncorp launched a new auto product via brand BingleGo, which rewards people with a 20% discount on their monthly policies when they opt to use other forms of transport (such as walking, cycling or public transport) rather than their car. Bingle Go uses telematics technology from insurtech Trov to detect the mode of transport used.

In December2020 Trov announced the launch of its Risk Operations Technology - helping their commercial mobility customers better assess and manage risk.

In January 2021 Trov partnered with UFODRIVE, a sustainable car rental company, to provide insurance for their fleet of fully electric vehicles.

The following month, Trov partnered with Zoom EV to provide full coverage to cars on Zoom EV's car sharing platform

Trov announced the launch of new consumer brands offering digital insurance in the UK in April 2021.

In July 2021, Trov partnered with UK Insurer Hamilton Fraser to provide digital renters insurance to the latter's customers.

In February 2022 Trōv announced its technology, as well as most of its team, had been acquired by Travelers for an undisclosed amount. Its embedded technology solutions will now be put to use within Travelers' personal insurance segment.

Trōv’s CEO Scott Walchek is an experienced tech entrepreneur who previously founded DebtMarket, which he led to a successful exit in 2011. Walcheck was also an early investor in Baidu, the Chinese search engine website.
